What happens when a male turns into a female? In male to female surgery, the testicles and most of the penis are removed and the urethra is cut shorter. Some of the skin is used to fashion a largely functional vagina. A “neoclitoris” that allows sensation can be created from parts of the penis. Men retain their prostates.
Is it possible to turn a male into a female? Men transitioning to women can have vaginas constructed that can be used for sex. Because of the high risk of complications with surgery to make a new penis, called phalloplasty, many women who transition choose not to have one. Instead, they often opt only to have their ovaries and uterus removed.
Can a man become a Transman? Trans men have a male gender identity, and many trans men choose to undergo surgical or hormonal transition, or both (see sex reassignment therapy), to alter their appearance in a way that aligns with their gender identity or alleviates gender dysphoria.
How much is male to female surgery? Gender reassignment surgeries are expensive. Bottom surgeries can cost about $25,000 and top (breast surgeries) from $7,800 to $10,000. Facial and body contouring are also costly. More employer insurance policies, and those sold under the Affordable Care Act, now cover at least some gender reassignment surgeries.
